Dr. Chelsea Catania received her PhD in materials science from the University of California, Santa Barbara before coming to MIT for her postdoctoral position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. She received a BS in materials science and engineering from the University of Florida. She is currently working with Professor Ariel Furst in the Chemical Engineering Department to develop a method to protect microbes from the stresses of manufacturing and improve the viability of living biotherapeutics.
